What's Missing (and Coming)
The Omni ecosystem is young. A few areas where Looker's ecosystem is still ahead:
- Training content — Looker has years of Udemy courses, YouTube tutorials, and conference talks. Omni's educational content is growing but thinner.
- Embedded analytics — Looker's embed SDK is more mature. Omni's embedding capabilities are evolving rapidly.
- System Activity equivalent — Looker's System Activity model provides deep operational analytics. Omni is building similar capabilities.
- Custom visualizations — Looker's marketplace has a wider selection of custom viz components.
These gaps are closing with each Omni release, and the rate of feature development at Omni significantly outpaces what Google ships for Looker.
